La recreación que de esta selección
de los Seys libros nos ofrece el sello Almaviva puede tranquilamente contarse
entre los más bellos discos dedicados al repertorio hispánico-renacentista...el
excelente vihuelista Juan Carlos Rivera recrea siete de las catorce fantasías
de un modo verdaderamente magistral. Juan Carlos Rivera renueva los aciertos del
disco anterior, dedicado a Mudarra y Fuenllana, con el estilo suelto y
la pulsación incisiva de su vihuela, acompañando ahora en
las piezas vocales a una Marta Almajano cuajada de frescura e intención. The performances here are undeniably attractive;
Almajano’s intimate singing, embellished with mercurial folk-like
ornaments in the Monserrat Figueras style, is very beguiling, and Rivera
deserves a round if applause for his excellent solos and the aplomb with
which he handles these fiendish accompaniments; they could hardly have
been played faster using conventional lute technique. Almajano, whose discography is increasing
at quite a rate, also sings very beautifully, able to sustain the vocal
line effortlessly and ornament expressively while the vihuela springs
its gossamer web around it. Rivera is a fine player, able to bring out
the counterpoint in the Fantasias as if it were the most natural thing
in the world. |
